Fez to Sefrou & bhalil

The Sefrou and Bhalil Day Trip takes you up into the Middle Atlas Mountains’ foothills to see the charming town of Sefrou and the unusual village of Bhalil. You’ll have a fantastic day exploring the region, which is famed for its waterfalls, caves, cold air, and different scenery.

After breakfast, a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle will pick you up for free from your hotel or riad. The first stop will be Sefrou, a popular tourist destination due to its proximity to Fes, which is only 30 kilometers away.

It is a very calm and quiet spot, which is part of its allure and one of the reasons for its appeal after Fes. It’s famous for its waterfalls and unusual landforms. The shrine of Sidi-Al Bousserghine can be found here. Learn about the architecture, religious influences, and history while exploring the town. You can visit the Jewish district, or mellah, and walk through the small, twisting lanes with their unique architectural designs, as well as see the shops, Jewish cemetery, and synagogue. Visit Oued Aggay’s diverse plant life, stop for lunch in Sefou.

Next, we’ll go to Bhalil, which is placed picturesquely on the edge of a hillside at the edge of the mountain range. Bhalil is known for its amazing cave shelters in the village’s oldest section, as well as its brightly colored buildings. Several of these cave houses are open to tourists, but take advantage while you can because these unique homes are quickly disappearing as the hamlet modernizes, which may also result in the departure of local craftsmen working in the streets or preparing locally grown crops. The caves served a practical purpose in that they kept people cool in the summer and kept the cold out in the winter. The community is also known for producing jellaba buttons, and you can observe local ladies conversing as they work in the lanes just off the main street. Bhalil is also known for its traditional bread ovens and olive oil production, both of which you will visit. The panorama of the lush valley below and picturesque hilltops from the top of the settlement is spectacular.

Then pay a visit to a local family to enjoy mint tea and learn about their daily lives. Your driver will bring you to your fez lodging at the end of your day tour.
